Fan Made! Star Trek Film and Fiction

Star Trek TNG Make it So / Let it Go Disney Parody

Back after a short hiatus for the birth of our granddaughter (and Jacob’s niece!) In honor of our new little girl here is a (really … really really) well-done parody of Disney’s Frozen: Let it Go…

From Debs & Errol on Youtube comes this Let it Go parody which, as you probably know, is an exceptionally hard to sing song. Well, Debs nails it. And the lyrics… perfection! Following the plot of The Next Generation movie First Contact.

“You’re all Astronauts on some kind of Star Trek”… arguably the best line ever.

First Contact was the first Trek film that did not include the cast of the Original Series and featured the cast of Next Gen instead. Time Travel. Borg. What more could you ask for?

In case you somehow missed the movie (and if you did please correct that asap…) here is the trailer…

All I want for Christmas: Tea, Earl Gray, Hot.

Continuing our Christmas in July theme after a short Friday the 13th break (check it here) with a Star Trek mashup from several shows.

And including Enterprise!!

That red-headed-step-child of the franchise that everyone loves to hate… the Enterprise’s inclusion alone made me want to share this one.

All I want for Christmas is Tea, Earl Gray, Hot!

Are you tired of Christmas in July? Let me know… I’m kind of a sucker for all things holiday so maybe I’m going overboard. Yell at me in the comments… well… maybe don’t yell… I might cry or at least scream out KHHHAAANNN…

All of these fan-made videos are inspiring me to try… guess I see some research in my future since I have no clue how to do more than take a static screenshot. Have a favorite video editing program? Let me know in the comments! Thanks.

And keeping with tradition (holidays are about traditions right?) here are the lyrics to the original by Mariah Carey…

I don’t want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
And I don’t care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree

I don’t need to hang my stocking
There, upon the fireplace
Santa Claus won’t make me happy
With a toy on Christmas Day
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you

You, baby
Oh, I won’t ask for much this Christmas
I won’t even wish for snow
And I’m just gonna keep on waiting
Underneath the mistletoe
I won’t make a list and send it
To the North Pole for Saint Nick
I won’t even stay awake to
Hear those magic reindeer click

‘Cause I just want you here tonight
Holding on to me so tight
What more can I do?
Cause baby all I want for Christmas is you

Happy Friday the 13th! Jason vs. Star Trek

It’s FRIDAY THE 13th!

So a few things. First, did you know our very own Nana Visitor (Kira on Deep Space Nine) played Jason’s mother in the 2009 remake?! I didn’t. Until now. And my nightmares will never be the same again.

Alert alert! This video has spoilers… well… are they still spoilers after 38 years? Anyway. Same rule applies here as to our other posts. We will assume you are okay with spoilers when we post about episodes of Trek and also when we post about 38-year-old plot reveals. Ok? I’m assuming you said yes since you’re still reading.

Any other movie reveals I can ruin for you? Let’s see… who is Darth Vader… No? Ok I’ll leave that one alone.

Friday the 13th (2009) – Kill for Mother scene

I haven’t met Nana Visitor yet… more life goals! I’m dying to have my picture taken with her. (See what I did there? Dying to… oh never mind.) I guess I better start planning future convention attendance. And I may have to buy a few extra autograph tix since I’ll want her to sign a Freddy pic AND a Deep Space Nine pic… and maybe the pic we take with her if we can swing it. Depends on the stars schedules, sometimes you can do it, other times you have to wait for future conventions.

Oh myyy… I know… wrong actor… (sorry Uncle George!)

I got distracted again and almost forgot to post the video I intended to post! Silly me. Here you go…

JASON vs. STAR TREK!! Who will win? I know where my money is going.

And because she is beautiful, and we all adore her, here is Nana Visitor at a convention in 2009. Photo Cred: Salvatore Capalbi.

So hopefully I’ll be able to share a picture of us with Nana in a future post. A girl and her son can dream right?

For now… enjoy your Friday the 13th… any plans? Spooky movie marathons? Scary treats? Share with us in the comments! We’d love to hear from you.

More Christmas in July ~ Deep Space Nine Style!

We are continuing our Christmas in July theme with the DS9 gang… Captain Sisko, Major Kira, Constable Odo, Lieutenant Commander Worf, Chief O’Brien, Congenial Barkeep Quark, Plain Simple Garak, and the rest of the Star Trek: DS9 ensemble with special appearances by Morn, Martok, Moogie, and Vorta Iggy Pop, who are “simply having a Wonderful Deep Space Nine”! (You know you sang that last bit! Admit it.)

Wonderful Deep Space Nine

Thanks to the talented YouTuber John C. Worsley for this well-done bit of holiday cheer!

Merry Christmas in July!

Jacob and I with Michael Dorn… aka: WORF!

Michael Dorn aka: WORF

This was taken at another fantastic Creation Star Trek convention in San Francisco… the stars are all so welcoming and Michael Dorn was so kind to us! Just a really friendly, genuine person… you don’t find that attitude in stars often.

We haven’t started an autographed photo of the cast of DS9 yet… GOALS… but someday. We do have signed pics of the TNG cast and Voyager cast over on the Episode list page (here). We don’t have quite all the signatures yet but we’re working on it!

Have you met Michael? Share your experience in the comments below… we’d love to hear about it!

Just to keep things honest here are the Lyrics to the Original:

Wonderful Christmas Time

The moon is right
The spirits up
We’re here tonight
And that’s enough
Simply having a wonderful Christmastime
Simply having a wonderful Christmastime

The party’s on
The feelings here
That only comes
This time of year
Simply having a wonderful Christmastime
Simply having a wonderful Christmastime

The choir of children sing their song
Ding dong, ding dong
Ding dong, ding ooo
Ooo ooo toot toot toot toot toot toot
We’re simply having a wonderful Christmastime
Simply having a wonderful Christmastime

The word is out
About the town
To lift a glass
Ah don’t look down
Simply having a wonderful Christmastime

The choir of children sing their song
They practiced all year long
Ding dong, ding dong
Ding dong, ding dong
Ding dong, ding dong, dong, dong, dong, dong
The party’s on
The spirits up
We’re here tonight
And that’s enough
Simply having a wonderful Christmastime

We’re simply having a wonderful Christmastime
The moon is right
The spirits up
We’re here tonight
Oh and that’s enough
We’re simply having a wonderful Christmastime
Simply having a wonderful Christmastime
Simply having a wonderful Christmastime

Oh oh
Christmastime

Christmas in July?! Let it Snow/Make it So!

I’m sorry guys I simply can’t wait for Christmas to post this… so I decided why not? Another fan made video this time by the very talented James Covenant. A –slightly altered– version of Let it Snow!

Let’s celebrate CHRISTMAS IN JULY!! Hey, all the shopping channels do it so why not us?

Captain Picard sings Let it Snow!

Now the real decision making begins… do I categorize this in Star Trek TNG… Star Trek Music… Star Trek Humor… or Fan Made! Star Trek Film and Fiction… I can make a case for each or all.

THE STRUGGLE IS REAL!

What do you think? Let me know in the comments below. Or yell at me for posting in July. (But really don’t… I might cry.)

“SHUT UP WESLEY!”

Pure genius. I really wish I had the mad skills to come up with these but I guess I’ll settle for ogling on the sidelines as a fan-made fan.

To give credit where credit is due, here are the original lyrics as written… although I will never again be able to hear this song without inserting Make it So and Shut up Wesley!  And I’m betting that now you won’t be able to either. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing, right?

Let It Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

Oh, the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we’ve no place to go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Man it doesn’t show signs of stoppin’
And I brought some corn for poppin’
The lights are turned way down low
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

When we finally kiss good-night
How I’ll hate going out in the storm
But if you really hold me tight
All the way home I’ll be warm

And the fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we’re still good-bye-ing
But as long as you love me so
Let it snow, let it snow, and snow

“Marla” Star Trek Into Darkness FanFiction

Today’s fan fic discovery is “Marla” Star Trek Into Darkness FanFiction by YumKiwiDelicious (YouTube & DeviantArt… if you haven’t checked out Deviant Art OMG do it… do it now…) who does a lot of unique shipper films… Han and Leia… Rose and Jack… even a Tom and Hermoine! (Say what?!)

But this Star Trek: Into Darkness fan fiction film “Marla” took my breath away.

Watch for yourself and see what you think… Do you love it as much as I do?

“Marla”: Star Trek Into Darkness FanFiction

Marla… prelude… by YumKiwiDelicious

“HOLD ON, MARLA!”

It was a shame helmsman Kyle didn’t take his own advice and grab hold of something. The next blast that hit the USS Enterprise created a cavernous hole in the far wall and he was promptly sucked out into deep space, his terrified cry being drowned out by the pull of air from the compartment we were in. I took Kyle’s last words to heart and held on for dear life as all around me my crewmates were torn from the ship and thrown into darkness.

My eyes were open but blurred with tears as I hugged the guard railing, feeling like my arms would snap long before it did and I would suffer the same fate as Kyle and the rest. Just as the sleeves of my red uniform dress started to slip from the cool metal I pondered where exactly I had gone wrong in life to end up in this situation – holding my breath hoping against hope something would save me from death by suffocation and/or explosion.

Most, my mother included, would argue that the first mistake had been joining the academy. However, I could not fault the institution which, until recently, had only ever done good things for me. No, as my arms grew weak and failed me, forcing the use of my hands, I knew that my life had taken an irreversible turn for the worst the day I had met John Harrison.”

Fan made video montage to “Common People” by William Shatner

This fan-made video is So. Well. Done. I mean, really, really, REALLY, well done! I’ll definitely be favoriting Lord Ricco 666 over on YouTube.

Star Trek the Original Series Clip to the music of “Common People” by William Shatner from his album “Has Been”

And since one can never have too much William Shatner… how about a revisit to his classic Rocket Man?

OH speaking of which… we were at a convention in San Francisco a while ago and there was a fan (wish I had his name! Anyone know him?) who did an amazing rendition of William Shatner… I mean it felt like we were watching the real thing only better. (Shh, don’t tell Bill.) I also wish I had a video of him but this still will have to do. If you know him or better yet if you ARE him please let us know!

Do you know this dude? Give him a shout-out in the comments!

William Shatner Impersonator

So anyway, I don’t know if you’ve been to a Creation convention before… but they usually have extra fan events and the stars that are available come and play along. This particular year they had a karaoke party open to all on Saturday night and this guy performed Rocket Man.

By the way… if you haven’t been to a Creation event? GO. Seriously. Just go. You can thank me later. Creation Cons are amazeballs. Everyone gets a seat in the main auditorium and tons of access to the guest stars and there are lots of extras like the karaoke party. One year they had a performance by Tim Russ at a special dance party for gold ticket holders so if you can swing it GO GOLD. But even if you don’t? You’ll still have the time of your life!

William Shatner’s Rocket Man!

Oh sorry got distracted there. Ok. Here is the restored (thanks to Thomas Prislac on YouTube… my favorites list is growing) version of William Shatner’s classic Rocket Man!
